Wind advisory issued for the Big Island summits

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a a wind advisory for Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa until 6 p.m. Monday (May 20).

Winds are forecast to be from the West at 25-35 mph with localized gusts to 50 mph for elevations above 12,000 feet.

The strong winds can make driving difficult especially for high profile vehicles. Motorists should use caution while driving. These high winds can forcefully swing doors open or shut. Use extra caution when opening or closing doors.
