PRG season rolls out with triple-header

Three of Hawaii’s preeminent roller derby teams meet face-to-face Saturday, May 18 at the Hilo Afook-Chinnen Civic Auditorium where they will vie for the top spot in the Paradise Roller Girls 2013 season opener.

Come watch the Hilo Bay Bruisers, Mauna Killahz, and Volcano Vixens smash, block and jam their way around the rink in the first triple- header of the season titled ‘Beach Blanket Bloodshed.’

Paradise Roller Girls are rolling headstrong into the fourth straight season and are more excited than ever to show off their talents and skills.

The teams’ pre-season conditioning, the addition of new talent, and a few changes in the rules are guaranteed to make this season more action-packed than ever.

Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at CD Wizard, Hilo Town Tavern, Lucy’s Taqueria, Oasis Skate Shop, Jungle Love Pahoa, Jeff Hunt Surfboards Pahoa, Mt. View Village Video, or directly from a local PRG roller girl. Tickets will also be available at the auditorium the day of the event.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the first bout is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Kids ages 5 years and younger will be admitted free of charge, and anyone who donates new or used sports equipment to the Neighborhood Place of Puna’s Sports Rescue Program will be given one free ticket per family.
