HUGS receives $24,000 from Forever Giving

MEDIA RELEASE

HUGS (Help, Understanding & Group Support), the local non-profit helping Hawaii families with seriously ill children, announces its award of a $24,000 grant from Forever Giving, a non-profit organization of Forever Living Products.

The 12-month grant supports its Emergency Airfare Fund for HUGS families with children needing medical services off island.

“Many families can not afford to physically be there with their child undergoing a procedure or surgery on the mainland, or in some cases on another island. This grant helps make it possible for our families to stay together during their most trying times away from home,” HUGS Interim CEO John Howell said. “HUGS is extremely grateful to Forever Giving for its support of HUGS families.”

Forever Living Products and its affiliates are the largest growers, manufacturers and distributors of aloe vera in the world. Its non-profit, Forever Giving, partners with charitable organizations around the world that share its passion for improving the human experience, focusing on the fight against poverty, hunger, and the lack of medical services available for children. It also supports relief efforts in response to natural disasters in the areas in which it operates.

For more than 30 years, HUGS has been helping families preserve their quality of life through programs addressing emotional, social, physical and financial needs of families it serves.

Services are provided free of charge statewide to families with a seriously ill child, ages birth to 21 years.
