Leaning pole cuts power, interrupts traffic on Alii Drive

Hawaii Electric Company announced that at 9:01 a.m. Friday, approximately 2,950 customers in the Kahaluu area of Kona experienced a power outage due to a leaning pole on Alii Drive near Banyans.

HELCO personnel were dispatched to begin repairs. Power was restored to all customers by 9:22 a.m.

However, work continued and Alii Drive was closed to traffic between Royal Poinciana Drive and Lymans Beach.

One lane was re-opened to traffic by 7 p.m.
