Special to Hawaii 24/7

A delegation from Okinawa and Kumejima Island in Japan recently visited Hawaii Island to inspect various technologies at Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii.

Greeting the individuals from Kumejima Island were Hawaii County officials Randy Kurohara, deputy managing director, and Bobby Command, executive assistant to the mayor.

Kurohara and Command expressed their desire to build upon the Sister Cities relationship between Kumejima Island and Hawaii Island.

This vision of sustainability and renewable energy opportunities was developed by the late Guy Toyama, at the time the executive director of Friends of NELHA.
