Waiakea earns Judges Award at national competition

After three intense days of competition, Hawaii’s 25 VEX Robotics teams put up fierce competition among the more than 700 teams in play.

The student teams from Punahou and Waiakea (A) advanced the farthest, competing in the semi-finals of their respective divisions.

Five Hawaii teams also competed in the division quarter-finals, including Highlands Intermediate, Kalakaua Middle, Mililani’s A team, and Waiakea’s B and C teams.

Hawaii’s teams also won key awards throughout the competition weekend, including:

* Highlands Intermediate: FUTURE Foundation’s Design Award for sustainability design

* Waianae High: Arts Division Community Award

* Waiakea High: Arts Division Judges Award

* Waialua High: Science Division Design Award

* Highlands Intermediate: Spirit Division Community Award
