Kamehameha’s Kagawa heading to Army

Kamehameha Schools Hawaii football standout Shaun Kagawa has signed a national letter of intent to play at Army.

Before signing, the 5-foot-11, 184-pound defensive back visited the campus.

Among the other colleges interested in Kagawa, who also plays tennis, were University of Hawaii and Navy.

Following the fall football season, Kagawa was named to the All-Big Island Interscholastic Federation Division II first team as a wide receiver and defensive back.

After a year of service in a West Point training program, Kagawa has four years of eligibility at NCAA Division I student-athlete, followed by five years of military service.

Carrying a 3.0 GPA, Kagawa plans to major in business economics.
