Sen. Brian Schatz announced his opposition for the Republican plan that does not avert the harmful impacts of sequestration and would only hurt middle-class families by not addressing the deficit.

President Obama announced Thursday that he would veto the legislation (S. 16).

“I stand with President Obama and Majority Leader Harry Reid in opposing the Republican plan,” Schatz said. “President Obama has clearly stated that he will veto this proposal because it’s not a realistic solution and is a dangerous approach to addressing the deficit. We can avert this disaster through smart reductions in domestic and defense spending, and by closing tax loopholes.”
