Swimming: Three state crowns for Big Isle

Three state titles belong on the Big Island after the swimming and diving championships.

In the girls 100-yard breaststroke, Kealaheke’s Cara Jernigan’s winning time was 1:05.09.

In the girls 100-yard backstroke, Hawaii Preparatory Academy’s Anu Nihipali took the championship in a time of 58.64

Also, Kealakehe picked up the girls 200-yard freestyle relay title with a time of 1:39.50.

The team included Cara Jernigan, Sarah Somsanquansit, Leahi Camacho and Madison-Gail Hauanio.

The state championships were Feb. 15-16 at Duke Kahanakoku Aquatic Complex.
