The search continued Friday (Feb 1) for a missing diver off the coast of Puuhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park.

The missing diver was last seen on Wednesday (Jan 30) at the park at about 4 p.m. The man’s keys, wallet and cellphone were found in his truck at the park.

The two Hawaii County Fire Department helicopters, rescue boat and ground personnel were joined by the Coast Guard using a C-130 aircraft, a Dolfin helicopter and the cutter Kiska to search for the missing diver. Private boats also joined in the search. The air search extended two miles North and South of the shoreline and 1/4 mile into open ocean.

Crews used search patterns based upon Coast Guard drift buoy data tracking ocean conditions. There were no reports of any findings.

Police identified the missing diver as Jeremiah Nathan of Kealakekua. Nathan is described as Caucasian, 5-foot-10, 150 pounds, green eyes, short brown hair and has a tattoo across his chest with Arabic-like lettering.

Police ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to call Officer Bradden Kimura of Kona Patrol at (808) 326-4646, extension 253. Callers may also call the Police Department’s non-emergency number at 935-3311.
