The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the high surf advisory for East facing shores of the Big Island until 9 a.m. Friday (Dec 21). Included in the advisory are the East facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai and Maui.

Surf is forecast to be in the six to ten foot range through Thursday night. The rough surf will cause hazardous conditions in the surf zone including dangerous rip currents.

Beach goers are urged to stay out of the water and away from shore breaks due to the hazardous wave action.

A small craft advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Friday for all coastal waters.
