Fire/rescue responded to an 11:39 a.m. alarm Saturday (Dec 1) to Kaumana Caves for a person who fell and was injured in the caves while hiking.

Crews found an injured 55 year-old woman and loaded her onto a litter so she could be airlifted by Chopper 1 out of the caves. The woman was then transported to Hilo Medical Center for treatment.

The condition of the woman was not released in the fire dispatch report.
