A coupler on an eight-inch concrete water main broke Wednesday (Nov 28) in the Anderton Camp area of Papaikou disrupting water service for residents. The Department of Water Supply reported low water pressure for residents in the area.
Crews dug a three-foot deep trench in the afternoon to access the broken coupler to make repairs. The Department of Water Supply had the repairs done and trench refilled by 5 p.m. Water via the pipe was restored to customers in the area.

A pipe brought in to effect repairs was not used since it was a coupler and not the water main itself which was damaged. The repaired area is under the gravel covering the top of the filled trench used to access the break. Photography by Baron Sekiya | Hawaii 24/7
