Mellon-Hawaii fellows present research (Nov. 10)

MEDIA RELEASE

Through the generosity of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Kahiau Foundation, and Kamehameha Schools, the Mellon-Hawaii Doctoral and Postdoctoral Fellowship Program was established at The Kohala Center.

The program provides fellowships to Native Hawaiian scholars, whose research is about Hawaii’s natural and cultural landscape or about Hawaii’s history, politics, and society.

The special presentation of the work of the 2012–2013 Fellows is 8:45 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa.

10:20 a.m. Dr. Katrina-Ann R. Kapaanaokalaokeola Oliveira presents:
“Naming Maui: Mai Kekahi Kapa a Kekahi Kapa Aku”

11:20 a.m. Kaipo Perez, III presents:
“Integrating Traditional Ecological Knowledge with Science in Kahaluu Bay, Hawaii”
