Stanis expected to complete island run in Kona (Oct. 30)

Special to Hawaii 24/7

Editor’s Note: Stanis expects to finish her 240-mile run around the island about noon at the intersection of Queen Kaahumanu Highway and Hina Lani Street. She is still accepting donations to benefit PATH (People’s Advocacy for Trails Hawaii) and Hawaii Conservation Alliance.

A quick update from the road: I’m resting well, safe and sound in Captain Cook.

These past two days from Pahala have taken it a lot, and I’m enjoying a much deserved break.

I wanted to make it back to Kona to complete my journey around the island Monday, but will take the day to make up a few missed miles and run into Kona on Tuesday.

Many thanks to my last host in Ocean View, Roberta, and to everyone who has kept tabs on me, and supported me through the trip!

Seeing Hawaii on foot this way has been spectacular, challenging and eye opening.

I am thankful to spread love of Hawaii lands and the importance of trails and paths.
