2012 Ironman triathlon on NBC (Oct. 27)

MEDIA RELEASE

The 2012 Ironman World Championship telecast on NBC Sports will air at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 on Channel 8 KHNL.

Featuring an updated style that provides Ironman fans with an inside look at what the pros go through during race week, this year’s NBC telecast of the Ironman World Championship presented by MyList provides an “all access” experience of this year’s race in Kona.

“For the first time we’re presenting this show just two weeks after the race,” show producer Eric Begley said. “The race was so exciting, it demanded an action-packed show with more race coverage than ever before.”

Included in the two-hour show are technical features on the science of the sport, inspiring athlete profiles and unique, behind the scenes access to some of the sport’s top athletes.

“We have world class athletes, incredibly inspirational stories, and real-time drama that can not be scripted. With our entirely new format we are extremely excited to give our viewers a front row seat as all the action unfolds,” executive producer Erik Vervloet said.

To date, the broadcast has earned more than 40 Emmy nominations, won 16 Emmy awards and received three prestigious CINE Golden Eagle Awards.

Watch a preview clip of Saturday’s show on the final episode of Alii Drive “Beginning” on the official Ironman Youtube channel.
