The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a high surf advisory for South facing shores of all Hawaiian islands starting at 6 a.m. Thursday through 6 p.m. Friday (Sept 28).
Surf is forecast to build during the day Thursday to 6-8 feet continuing through Friday and may be extended through Saturday if conditions persist.
The high surf conditions will generate rough surf, dangerous breaking waves, hazardous rip currents and localized beach erosion. Ocean and beachgoers should use caution.
A small craft advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday for Maalaea Bay, Pailolo and Alenuihaha Channels, Big Island Leeward and Southeast waters. The small craft advisory may be extended into Friday should strong trade winds and rough seas persist.
