Fire/rescue crews responded to a 5:43 a.m. alarm Wednesday (Sept 5) to a structure fire on Mamalahoa Highway (Hwy 180) in Holualoa North of the Hualalai Road intersection.
Crews arrived to find a two story wooden building engulfed in flames. It took arriving firefighters 30 minutes to get the blaze under control and they had the fire out by 7 a.m.
During the fire Mamalahoa Highway was closed between Holualoa School and Hualalai Road. Three residents of the home were evacuated without injuries and are being assisted by the Red Cross.
There were no other structures involved in the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
