HELCO: Power interrupted in North Hawaii (Aug. 21)

Hawaii Electric Light Company (HELCO) has announced that at 6:21 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 21, power was interrupted to 5,734 customers in the Kamuela, Kawaihae, Kona and Waikoloa areas due to Hamakua Energy Partners tripping offline.

HELCO worked quickly to bring additional generation online and power was restored to all customers by 6:38 p.m.

HELCO regrets and apologizes for any inconvenience customers experienced during this outage.
