Fire destroys wooden shell of home in HOVE

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 5:14 p.m. alarm Tuesday (aug 21) to a structure fire in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates on Hawaii Boulevard between Coral Parkway and Luau Drive.

Firefighters found a 30 by 40 foot wooden shell of a residence with metal roof engulfed in flames. Crews had the fire under control by 5:45 p.m. and out by 8:45 p.m. The structure collapsed and was destroyed due to fire damage.

Neighbors reported the structure had been abandoned for some time.

Hawaii Boulevard was blocked during firefighting operations and the loss from the blaze is estimated to be $40,000. The cause of the fire is unknown.
