Parks and Recreation office at West Hawaii Civic Center closed for training August 14-15

The Department of Parks and Recreation’s West Hawai‘i permit office will be closed Tuesday, Aug. 14, and Wednesday, Aug. 15, so staff may attend training sessions.

The office, located in the West Hawai‘i Civic Center, will reopen at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 16.

Camping and pavilion permits may be obtained Mondays through Thursdays at the following West Hawai‘i locations:

  • Hale Hālāwai Park in Kailua-Kona from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Yano Hall in Captain Cook from noon to 2 p.m.
  • Waimea Community Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Kamehameha Park in North Kohala from noon to 2 p.m.

Camping permits may be obtained at the department’s Aupuni Center administrative office in Hilo weekdays from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office will be closed on state holidays and furlough days. Camping permits also are available online at: https://www.ehawaii.gov/Hawaii_County/camping/exe/campre.cgi.

The Department of Parks and Recreation apologizes for the inconvenience and thanks the public for their patience while the West Hawai‘i permitting office is closed.
