Case racks up three endorsements

MEDIA RELEASE

Ed Case racked up three endorsements for his run in the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate over the last week. Both The Maui News and West Hawaii Today, two of the neighbor islands’ largest publications, shared their opinions that Case could better lead through bipartisanship and proactive legislation than fellow candidate Mazie Hirono.

The Maui News deemed Case’s statement that “we must stop fighting and start fixing” the “best line of this campaign season.” The News had reservations about Case’s Democratic primary opponent Hirono saying, “we hope Hawaii picks a senator who is going to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.”

West Hawaii Today praised Case’s effective leadership stating, “Case has over the years impressed us with his independence and ability to move legislation.”

Veterans In Politics International (VIP) also announced their support for case at the West Oahu Pau Hana with Ed held at Kapolei Middle School, part of Case’s direct outreach to Hawaii voters statewide.

VIP interview panel member Dennis Egge said, “Case showed genuine concern for our veterans, the military personnel and their families residing in Hawaii. He has a record of standing by veterans, and we believe he will work diligently to improve the quality of life for them and their families.”

While in Congress, Case helped secure legislation to restore benefits unjustly taken from Filipino veterans, end taxes on concurrent disability retirement pay, and fund needed improvements to West Hawaii Cemetery. He has pledged to tackle critical issues facing returning veterans, including jobs and healthcare.

Case represented Maui County and Hawaii Island in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2002-2007, holding 172 Talk Story with Congressman Ed Case community events on these islands during that time. He was born and raised in Hilo on Hawaii Island, the fourth generation of his family in Hawaii.
