Alii Health Center will be celebrating its new location with a special open house and blessing Friday, July 27.

The open house and blessing commemorates the centralization of Alii Health Center’s five clinics into two newly opened office suites at the Keauhou Shopping Center.

The celebration will begin with a performance by Ka Pa Hula Na Wai Iwi Ola Keiki. Kumu Keala Ching will bless the clinic’s new offices. Speakers at the open house will include Deb Sundberg, Alii Health Executive Director, Lei David, Operations Manager, and Dr. Edwin Herd, one of Alii Health’s original physicians.

Prior to consolidation, Alii Health’s orthopedics, pediatrics and general surgery clinics were located in three different sites in Kealakekua. Their administrative office, adult medicine and urology clinics were located in Kailua-Kona.

In addition to the consolidation of its existing clinics, Alii Health has added services including on-site radiology and ultrasound. Alii Health is also adding doctors. A urologist recently joined the team of providers.

In August, a general surgeon and obstetrician-gynecologist will come aboard, followed in the fall by a new orthopedic surgeon.

“We are excited to offer improved accessibility, new services and a higher level of care to our patients,” Sundberg said.

Alii Health is a subsidiary of Hawaii Health Systems Corp., the state health system. The center is a private 501(c)(3), with a separate governing board from Kona Community Hospital. Center officials work with their own board and the health center board.
