Laura Dierenfield has joined the Queen Liliuokalani Trust as manager in the endowment group at its Kailua-Kona office, according to LeeAnn Crabbe, Vice President for the Trust.

A lifelong resident of Kona, Dierenfield’s role at the Trust will focus on its Keahuolu master planning efforts and strengthening the Trust’s presence in the Kona community.

Previously, Dierenfield served as executive director of the non-profit advocacy organization PATH – Peoples Advocacy for Trails Hawaii, in Kailua-Kona.

During her three-year tenure at PATH, Dierenfield helped to accelerate the investment in trails, pathways and bikeways including Complete Streets and Safe Route To School projects, traffic safety education programs, and professional development workshops for engineers and planners.

Prior to PATH, Dierenfield served as health education leader at Tutu’s House, a program of Friends of the Future, focusing on fostering healthy eating and active living programs in North Hawaii.

“I am truly humbled to join this dynamic team dedicated to fulfilling Queen Liliuokalani’s legacy to serve the most vulnerable in our society,” Dierenfield said. “I look forward to focusing on the healthy growth of Kailua-Kona in my new role with the Trust and continuing to serve my community.”

Dierenfield currently serves on the board of PATH and holds several statewide leadership roles as the Bicycle and Pedestrian Emphasis Area Chair of the Hawaii Strategic Highway Safety Plan and Co-Chair of the Hawaii Energy Policy Forum’s Transportation Working Group.

The Queen Liliuokalani Trust was established by Hawaii’s last ruling monarch, the beloved Queen Liliuokalani.

The Deed of Trust, executed in 1909, directs that the Queen’s lands be utilized to serve and provide for orphaned and destitute children in perpetuity. The Core Trust assets include some 6,400 acres of land, the majority in Kona.

Outreach to beneficiaries is delivered through the Queen Liliuokalani Children’s Center, established in 1933.
