The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Hawaii County Farm Service Agency office is accepting county committee nominations through Aug. 1.

The election of agricultural producers to FSA county committees is important to all farmers and ranchers, said a USDA spokesman.

This year, elections will be held in local administrative area No. 2, which includes Kona and Mauna Kea, tax map zones 5, 6, 7 and 8.

County committee members are a critical component in the delivery of FSA services and programs at the local level.

Farmers and ranchers who serve on county committees help with key decisions on programs in their counties and work to ensure FSA agricultural programs serve the needs of local producers.
