Parks permit office closed through July 23

MEDIA RELEASE

The Department of Parks and Recreation’s West Hawaii permit office will be closed through Monday, July 23.

The administrative office, located in the West Hawaii Civic Center, will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday, July 24.

Camping and pavilion permits remain available Mondays through Thursdays at the following West Hawaii locations:

* Hale Halawai Park in Kailua-Kona – 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

* Yano Hall in Captain Cook – Noon-2 p.m.

* Waimea Community Center – 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

* Kamehameha Park in North Kohala – noon-2 p.m.

Camping permits may be obtained at the department’s Aupuni Center administrative office in Hilo weekdays from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office will be closed on state holidays and furlough days.

The Department of Parks and Recreation apologizes for the inconvenience and thanks the public for their patience while the West Hawaii permitting office is closed.
