Hina Lani Street brushfire declared extinguished on fourth day Sunday (July 8)

As of Sunday (July 8) the Hina Lani Street brushfire in Kona has been declared extinguished by the Hawaii County fire department.

Fire crews spend the weekend putting down various hotspots with 5-6 being put down Saturday and one Sunday morning. A fire captain did a complete walk around of the fire area on Saturday, recommended another day of monitoring with a battalion chief doing a final walk around Sunday.

The final loss in the brushfire which burned for four days is estimated to be $40,000 on the 400 acres burned.
