Pahala brushfire proving to be stubborn for firefighters

By Hawaii 24/7 Staff

Firefighters were still at the scene of two brushfire sites in Pahala Monday (June 25).

The 400 acre brushfire area mauka of Pahala town is 95 percent contained and is under control. Firefighters are monitoring the area, extinguishing hot spots and maintaining the perimeter of the burn area.

The larger brushfire area makai is about 60 percent contained. Firefighters are concentrating their efforts on the Northern and Southern flanks while extinguishing hot spots as needed.
