Firefighters continue to work on putting out Pahala brushfires

Firefighters continue work Friday (June 22) at containing a pair of brushfires in Pahala which have consumed over two thousand acres.

The ‘Cane Haul Road’ fire above Pahala town is 95 percent contained and is under control. Firefightes are monitoring and putting down hotspots and maintaining the perimeter of the 400 acre fire area.

The larger ‘Highway 11’ fire makai of the highway near Pahala is about 60 percent contained. Firefighters are monitoring the perimeter of the fire area along fire breaks and extinguishing hot spots as necessary. Crews are concentrating their firefighting effords on the North and South flanks of the fire area.
