On Tuesday, June 12, the Highway Maintenance division is scheduled to return to resurface Mamalahoa Highway in Holualoa, starting from mile marker 9 for 1,000 feet in the direction of Palani Junction.

Alternate lane closures 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

On the same day, Isemoto Contracting Company Ltd. will keep one-lane open to traffic on Mamalahoa Highway at mile marker 4.4, near Waiono Meadows in Holualoa.

The road will be resurfaced, shoulders paved, and swales added.

Alternate lane closures 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Completion for both projects is June 13.

Also, Ane Keohokalole Highway and Kealakehe Parkway will be a four-way stop.

The intersection of Ane Keohokaole and Kealakehe in North Kona will be converted to an all-way stop.

Construction is scheduled to begin Tuesday, June 12. Work is scheduled to be completed June 22.

Traffic signs will be erected during construction to alert motorists of one-lane closures.

Currently, there are no stops on Kealakehe Parkway. Once stop signs are installed on Kealakehe Parkway all motorists shall be required to stop before proceeding through the intersection.

Motorists are reminded to follow the rules of the road, and whichever vehicle comes to the intersection first has the right of way. If vehicles approach the intersection at the same time, right of way is to the vehicle on the right.

In anticipation of the all four-way intersection, zig zag lines will be painted on Ane Keohokalole Highway leading to the stop. Zig zag lines capture the attention of motorists who slow down to look at them when approaching a four-way stop.

On Kealakehe Parkway horizontal marks will be painted on the pavement leading up to the stop sign. The words, “stop ahead,” will be painted on to the street.
