MEDIA RELEASE

The American Resort Development Association of Hawaii (ARDA-Hawaii) has named Stephanie Peterson, Executive Vacation Counselor at Hilton Grand Vacations Club at Waikoloa Beach Resort, as one of its first “Timeshare with Aloha” awardees.

Peterson is the island of Hawaii’s 2012 Timeshare Employee of the Year for the statewide awards program.

“Stephanie is precisely the kind of above-and-beyond individual who inspired us to launch the Timeshare with Aloha Awards,” said ARDA-Hawaii chairman Daniel Dinell. “Though many vacation destinations offer sun, sand, and surf, exceptional individuals like Stephanie truly set Hawaii apart. We are thankful to her and the many hospitality employees who make the Islands a place people long to discover – and rediscover – by embodying the Aloha State’s unique culture.”

ARDA-Hawaii established the annual “Timeshare with Aloha” Awards this year to showcase and reward committed industry professionals who make Hawaii a special place to visit.

One outstanding employee each from Kauai, Oahu, Maui, and Hawaii will be recognized as a “Timeshare with Aloha” awardee.

Each receives a two-night stay at a Hawaii timeshare resort and $1,000 to spend during their awarded vacation.

Peterson has been with Hilton Grand Vacations for more than seven years. Her nominator, Michael McCarthy, senior director of sales at Hilton Grand Vacations, said Peterson embodies the aloha spirit in her outstanding customer service by sending all of her new owners a thank you card and small gift.

At work, Peterson assists and trains her fellow workers, regularly covers shifts for co-workers and always volunteers for work projects.

A resident of Waimea, Peterson is also actively involved in her community. She has worked three times as a volunteer for the Ironman triathlon, donated to and participated in the annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk organized by the Hawaii Hotel and Lodging Association and has also donated multiple times to the Lokahi Giving Project.

In addition to the “Timeshare with Aloha” award, Peterson was also presented with a certificate from the State House of Representatives from Rep. Mark Nakashima, for her hard work and dedication to the resort and timeshare industry.

ARDA-Hawaii is the local chapter of the American Resort Development Association, the national timeshare trade association. Timeshares account for 13 percent of Hawaii’s visitor lodging inventory as well as thousands of jobs.
