By Hawaii 24/7 Staff

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 12:16 a.m. alarm Sunday (May 6) to the intersection of Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Hwy 19) and Kawaihae Road for a two vehicle crash.

A full-size Ford pick-up truck and a compact car collided at the intersection. The car had three males in their late teens or early twenties. The pick-up truck had a man in his 40s.

Upon impact two of the sedan’s occupants were ejected from the vehicle. One of the ejected males was dead on the scene, the other was transported to North Hawaii Community Hospital with life threatening injuries and died at the hospital.

The drivers of both vehicles were treated and transported to NHCH for their injuries.

The intersection was closed to traffic with police reporting it re-opened at 4:14 a.m. Fire dispatch report cites speed and alcohol being a possible cause of the crash.
