Golf: Waiakea girls take third in state

Waiakea, led by Ciera Min, finished third in the 2012 David S. Ishii Foundation Girls Golf State Championships at Wailua Golf Course on Kauai.

Iolani and Punahou took the top two team spots. Hilo landed in 10th place.

Individually, Punahou’s Kacie Komoto, Iolani’s Rose Huang and Moanaloa’s Eimi Koga were the top three in the state.

Min managed a fourth place overall finish and was the sole Big Island golfer in the top 15.

The boys state championship is May 8-9, also at Wailua Golf Course on Kauai.
