Four new members for UH Foundation board

MEDIA RELEASE

The University of Hawaii Foundation has elected four new members to the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. Their terms begin July 1, 2012.

* Kathleen Kagawa is the president and owner of the Hawaii 5-0 Group of companies. The companies specialize in real estate development, sales and management; construction and construction management; technology, cleaning and maintenance; and security. Kagawa graduated from Punahou School, attended the University of Hawaii, and achieved her PhD, MBA and BA from the University of Beverly Hills. From 2003 – 2006, Kagawa was a State of Hawaii Real Estate Commissioner. From 2002 – 2006, she served as vice-chair of the Condominium Review Committee and vice-chair of the Laws and Rules Committee. Kagawa serves on the board of the Hawaii Employer’s Mutual Insurance Company and the Menehune Foundation and has been appointed by the Governor to serve on the HEMIC Oversight Council.

* Ritchie N. Mudd is the founder (1983) and former CEO of RSI Roofing and Building Supply. RSI is one of Hawaii’s largest roofing and building supply companies with locations on Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island. Mudd has a BA from Ohio State University and is active in our community serving on the Sand Island Business Association, Tax Foundation of Hawaii, and Salvation Army boards. Mudd deeply appreciates Hawaiian music and culture and supports it through gifts to the Music & Entertainment Learning Experience (MELE) program at Honolulu Community College. He is also a dedicated UH Basketball supporter.

* Catherine Ngo is the executive vice president and chief administrative officer at Central Pacific Bank. Prior to her work at the bank, she was a general partner at Startup Capital Ventures, a venture capital firm, amongst other executive positions in the investment banking and commercial banking sectors. Ngo graduated with her JD from the University of Virginia School of Law and haspracticed law in California and Texas. She holds a BA from the University of Virginia. Ngo is currently an advisory board member for Zero2IPO Group, a private equity industry service provider in China, and also, sits on the board of Enterprise Honolulu.

* Kent R. Youel is a retired Coast Guard Lieutenant Commander and Army veteran who’s numerous decorations include the Bronze Star Medal for valor and the Purple Heart. He is a member of the University of Hawaii Foundation’s “Founders Club” and “Heritage Society” and is a former Ahahui Koa Anuenue director. Youel is on the Steering Committee for the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic and the board of the Honolulu Federal Credit Union. Additionally, he is the recipient of the” Chairman’s Award” from the Hawaii Affiliate of the American Heart Association, the “Mayor’s Award of Appreciation” from the City and County of Honolulu, and the “Outstanding Community Service Award” from the Department of Utah Veterans of Foreign Wars. Youel has a BS from the University of the State of New York.
