Takeuchi named DCCA deputy director

MEDIA RELEASE

Gov. Neil Abercrombie has announced the recent appointment of Jo Ann Uchida Takeuchi as deputy director of the state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA). She fills the vacancy left by Everett Kaneshige.

“Jo Ann is dedicated to serving the State of Hawai’i,” Abercrombie said. “I am very happy to have her as a member of our team as we continue to work together to serve the people of this great state.”

Takeuchi has been with the DCCA for nearly 22 years, serving in various staff and leadership capacities. Since 1999, she was the Complaints and Enforcement Officer with DCCA’s Regulated Industries Complaints Office. Prior to that position, Takeuchi was the Executive Director of DCCA’s Office of Consumer Protection (OCP).

She also previously served as a Senior Attorney to the OCP.

A graduate of the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law, Takeuchi holds a juris doctorate and a bachelor’s degree BA in Political Science.

“I am proud to say that I am a public servant,” said Ms. Takeuchi. “I believe strongly in honoring the trust that comes with doing the ‘people’s work.’ ”
