The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the high surf advisory for North and East facing shores of the Big Island until 10 a.m. Thursday (Feb 23).
Strong tradewinds are generating surf conditions expected to be choppy and in the six to eight foot range through Thursday morning.
Swimmers and beachgoers are advised to use caution in and near the ocean due to dangerous rip currents and localized beach erosion due to the high surf.
A small craft advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. this evening (Feb 22) for all Hawaiian Waters.
