High surf advisory for North and East facing shores of the Big Island

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a high surf advisory for North and East facing shores of the Big Island until 7 p.m. Wednesday (Feb 22).

Surf is forecast for the eight to 10 foot range today through Wednesday evening.

A high surf advisory means the possiblity of dangerous rip currents and localized beach erosion. Swimmers and beachgoers should use caution in and near the ocean.

A small craft advisory is also in effect for all Hawaiian waters until 7 p.m. Wednesday (Feb 22).
