PBS Hawaii presents ‘Class of 2010’ (Jan. 26)

MEDIA RELEASE

Charter school reform is the subject of PBS Hawaii Presents: Class of 2010 that premieres 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26.

The documentary was filmed in Puna by students of HAAS Productions, the digital media program of Hawaii Academy of Arts and Science.

Class of 2010 explores charter schools, their funding sources and efforts to reform education.

Executive producer/co-director Gloria Baraquio, a former HAAS teacher, worked with co-director/editor Erik Bathen of SHOOTZ studios, to turn 60 hours of tape into a one-hour film.

“Class of 2010 is a love song to Puna and a tribute to the teachers and supporters of education reform,” Baraquio said.

PBS Hawaii Presents is a weekly showcase for documentaries and special programs produced by independent local filmmakers that tell unique stories about Hawaii.
