Namuo appointed to Native Hawaiian Roll Commission

Fonner Governor John D. Waihee III, Chair of the Native Hawaiian Roll Commission announced effective January 1, 2012 the appointment of Clyde Namuo, former CEO, the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, as the executive director of the Native Hawaiian Roll Commission.

Waihee indicated that they were looking for someone who had experience in advancing NativeHawaiian self-determination and was pleased that Narnuo is willing to serve.

Namuo will be responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the Native Hawaiian RollCommission and will be working without compensation.

Assisting Namuo will be Raynette Suganuma-Carlson, who formerly assisted with the Hawaiian Sovereignty Elections Council and most recently with the Native Hawaiian Legal Corporation.

The Native Hawaiian Roll Commission was established by the 2011 Legislature and signed into law by Governor Neil Abercrombie.

In addition to Waihee the remaining commissioners are: Island of Oahu – Naalehu Anthony; Island of Hawaii – Lei Kihoi; Island of Kauai – Robin Danner; and Island of Maui – Mahealani Wendt.
