The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the Wind Advisory for Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa until 4 p.m. Thursday (Dec 29). Winds from the East are forecast to be 25-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph at elevations above 8,000 feet.

The State of Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Wildlife is seeking three to four volunteers for the summer field season on Kure Atoll (mid-February – September 2012). Kure Atoll is a part of the PapahÄnaumokuÄkea Marine National Monument (PMNM) and is located 1400 miles northwest of O’ahu.
