The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a High Surf Advisory for South, North and East facing shores of the Big Island until 6 a.m. Monday (Dec 26).
Surf created by strong trade winds will be six to eight feet in height along East facing shores. Surf will be rough and choppy.
The high surf will created large breaking waves and dangerous rip currents. Inexperienced swimmers and surfers should remain out of the ocean.
A Gale Warning for mariners is in effect until 6 p.m Sunday (Dec 25) for the Pailolo and Alenuihaha Channels and Big Island Leeward and Southeast waters.
