Hawaii County Civil Defense – Flash Flood Message

MEDIA RELEASE

This is a Civil Defense message. This is a weather update for Monday December 19, 2011 at 8:00 AM.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Hawaii Island effective through tomorrow morning, Tuesday December 20, 2011. A flash flood watch means that weather conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding.

Due to the flash flood watch, the following are issued. There is a possibility of heavy rain. All residents in flood prone areas are asked to be on the alert and prepare for possible flooding conditions. All motorists are asked to drive with caution and be on the alert for debris, runoff and ponding of water. Be aware that road closures and slowdowns can occur without any warning.
