More than 80 entries marched Saturday evening along Alii Drive ringing in the season. The Kona Christmas Parade included more than 1,800 people, as well as a sprinkling of dogs, miniature horses and something that looked like a Yeti.

Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and the Ginch also made an appearance.

The Kona Christmas Parade Committee has announced the award winners for the 27th annual Christmas Parade.

Parade chairwoman Barbara Kossow thanked everyone who marched in the parade, the sponsors, the volunteers and the thousands who lined the streets to make the 2011 Kona Christmas Parade such a success.

Awardees may pick up their certificates at the mayor’s office at the West Hawaii Civic center, beginning Dec. 14.

For further information, call Kossow at 323-4448.
