Coral Reef Alliance is looking for photo’s of underwater critters from Hawaii to put on the 2012 Bag Tags.

Bag tags are being used as part of the Big Island Reef Fund donation system and in shops, on boats and other locations to increase public awareness and knowledge on how to take care of our marine environment.

Over the last three years since this project began, more than 2,000 bag tags have been distributed at fairs, schools and shops and raised more than $3,500 though donations from tourist (tags are displayed in shops and on boats with a suggested donation of $5 to the BIRF to take a tag) thanks to your great generosity and amazing photography.

Money collected through the BIRF will stay on the Big Island for flip charts, bag tags, education and other projects.

To enter your photo’s for this coming years bag tags:

You can submit up to 5 images total within the following categories, it is your choice to do five for one category or one for each.

Categories:

Turtles
Dolphins
Reef Life
Other critters – sharks, rays, other marine mammals etc

Overall three turtle images, three dolphin images and a combination of four reef life and other critter images will be used based on votes

Submission:

Submit images at a 7×5 size (if your image wins larger size will be asked for) via email to Kara@coral.org

When choosing your pictures please take into consideration the final size will be 3.5 inches by 2.5 inches

Do not include your name on images just in the email sent

Images must be received by Friday, Dec. 16.

Competition:

Images will be placed on survey monkey to be voted on by the Kona Community over a two week time frame. Winners will be contacted in mid January.

Winners will receive a bag tag with their image on it and have their name printed on the picture. No other compensation is to be issued. Pictures will not be used for anything other than bag tags without the expressed permission of the photographer.
