PBS Hawaii will premiere The Legacy Series, a special tribute to five past guests and the wisdom they shared on Long Story Short with Leslie Wilcox at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6.
The program will feature interview segments with the late Dr.Isabella Aiona Abbott, Aunty Nona Beamer, Samuel P. King, William S. Richardson and Bob Sevey.
Listen to Aunty Nona Beamer’s touching comments about the beauty of life and the development of Hawaiiana. Hear about Chief Justice William S. Richardson’s landmark ruling to keep Hawaii’s beaches public.
Other stories are recounted by ethnobotanist and Pacific algae expert Dr. Abbott; Federal Judge King, co-author of Broken Trust; and Hawaii’s own Walter Cronkite, TV news anchor Sevey.
Due to a recent fire that disabled its studio, PBS Hawaii will broadcast the pledge-of-support program from an adjacent studio used by the UH Media Lab.
PBS HawaiiPresident and CEO Leslie Wilcox will host the live broadcast with members of the Hawaii Fire Fighters Association staffing the phone bank.
An emergency windup flashlight will be offered to donors as a mahalo gift for their support.
