E-Waste and Hazardous waste disposal events in Hilo and Kona (Dec 2-3, 10)

MEDIA RELEASE

Today and Saturday (Dec 2 & 3) 9am-5pm, there is a E-Waste disposal event.

In Hilo they will be at the Puainako Town Center parking lot and in Kona at Kealakehe High School parking lot.

The are taking Computer Monitors and TV’s for free as well, so pick up that TV someone dumped on your road a while back, and get it recycled.

As well, Mr. K’s Recycle & Redemption in Hilo now accepts e-waste 7:30am-5:30pm daily (TV’s and Monitors are $0.40 per lb, all other electronics are free, no home appliances). You can also read about this at the above link.

Hazardous Waste Disposal
7:30am-2:30pm at:

  • Saturday, December 3, 2011 at the Hilo Solid Waste Transfer Station.
  • Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Kailua-Kona (Kealakehe) Solid Waste Transfer Station.

Bring your own automotive fluids, chemicals and poisons and other hazardous household wastes to the Hilo Recycling & Transfer Station collection area on December 3rd. Business, farm, non-profit or government agency waste are NOT allowed. Electronic waste (e-waste) is also NOT allowed.
