Subaru ‘Share the Love’ benefits HIHS

MEDIA RELEASE

In celebration of the holidays, Hawaii Island Humane Society and Subaru Hawaii have announced the “Share the Love” sales event, pet adoptions and collection drive.

Subaru Hawaii will donate $250 to Hawaii Island Humane Society for every new vehicle sold by Subaru Hawaii through Dec. 31, 2011.

The public will also have an opportunity to vote for their favorite participating non-profit organization through Subaru Hawaii’s Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/SubaruHI

At the end of the sales event period, Subaru Hawaii will award the organization with the most votes an additional $5,000.

Besides Hawaii Island Humane Society, the four other non-profits that are eligible to receive votes include Hawaii Literacy, Oahu SPCA, Hawaii Wildlife Fund, and SPCA Maui.

“We welcome our new partnership with Subaru Hawaii and appreciate their recognition of the many ongoing needs of Hawaii Island Humane Society,” said Donna Whitaker, executive director of Hawaii Island Humane Society. “We look forward to working with Subaru Hawaii for years to come as we all strive to promote respect for all animals, prevent cruelty to animals, eliminate pet overpopulation, and enhance the bond between humans and animals.”

“We are delighted to launch Subaru Hawaii ’s Share the Love sales event and give back to the community,” said Glenn Inouye, Senior Vice President, Servco representing the Subaru Hawaii Dealers. “We feel that this promotion will be a win-win for Subaru owners, customers and local non-profit partners. Subaru owners are active members in their local communities and with this program it’s our goal to recognize and celebrate some of those varied groups during the holiday season.”

In addition to its monetary donation, Subaru Hawaii dealers on Hawaii Island will be hosting promotional adoption and collection events.

The public is encouraged to “Share the Love” during this holiday season by donating pet care supplies such as food, leashes, collars or puppy pads at Subaru, when the Hawaii Island Humane Society will be on-site to find loving homes for Big Island animals during the adoption event.

Event details: 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10 at Hilo Subaru,
1 Keaa St., Hilo.

Subaru Hawaii sells vehicles across a network of five dealership locations statewide. Subaru is the only automotive manufacturer to receive the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IHS) Top Safety Picks for all models for the past two years.

All Subaru products are built in zero-landfill production plants where 100 percent of waste is recycled or turned into electricity.
