The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a High Surf Advisory for East facing shores of all Hawaiian Islands until 6 p.m. this evening (Nov 29).

Surf is forecast to be in the six to eight foot range creating large breaking waves, rip currents and localized beach erosion. Beachgoers should be cautious due to the rough surf.

During the week of November 21, 2011, through November 27, 2011, Big Island police arrested 18 motorists for drunk driving. Two of the drivers were involved in traffic crashes. One was under the age of 21.

So far this year, there have been 1,325 DUI arrests compared with 1,387 during the same period last year, a decrease of 4.5 percent.

Big Island police have located 45-year-old Rodney Naiole Kahele, who was being sought on seven outstanding warrants.

He was arrested on December 23 in Ocean View and charged with resisting arrest in addition to the warrants.
