The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a winter weather advisory for the summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa above 12,000 feet until noon Monday (Nov 21). Snow accumulations of one to three inches are forecast for the summit.

Snow flurries, sleet and freezing rain will make driving on the summit roadway difficult. As of 8:18 p.m. Sunday (Nov 20) the Mauna Kea Access Road was reported to be icy and closed to the public above the Visitor Information Station.
