Dozens and dozens of pets and owners turned out for a weekend of Pet Walks to benefit the Hawaii Island Humane Society.
Saturday’s walk was in Hilo; Sunday’s was in Kona.
The Hawaii Island Humane Society Halloween Pet Walk paraded around Queen Liliuokalani Gardens Saturday in Hilo.
Prizes were given out for the individual and team raising the most money, plus for best costume, best pet trick and canine kisser.
In Kona, the pets strolled Alii Drive and ended up at Hale Halawai for an agility demonstration, costume contest and making new friends.
HIHS executive director Donna Whitaker, with her dog Badger, said she appreciated the community support.
“This is one of the most fun events we do every year because it brings out the community and their pets. It’s just great fun for everyone,” she said. “In the last two years, it’s been a substantial fundraiser for us and it comes at a good time of the year for us. We’re grateful for the support.”
